What is the Uni-core and how can it save time & material?
One of the leading impediments to the solar industry is the inability to mount currently used stand-offs on existing tile roofs. like Spanish tile, slate, and ornate ceramic or concrete tile with the expense of removing and reinstalling materials; not to mention the time factor and problem of matching the colors of the tiles or stone.
I have seen some systems that lay flat on the roof, however they can not maximize the effectiveness due to the pitch of installation they are stuck with.
The patent pending Unicore has one lag penetration instead of two or four, hence decreasing the possibility of moisture seepage. All other standoffs have at least two attachment points; and at first thought one would think “more attachment points equal more stability.” I have been in and around the construction industry for over 30 years and I can tell you that when you have two metal into wood penetrations over 3/16ths of an inch and within 10 inches apart in the same edge of 2x material, you are actually subtracting from the integrity of the joist or rafter.
